En inglés el equipo se llama Wikileaks Task Force pero ya se conoce como WTF, que también, subrayaba indirectamente The Washington Post para marcar la cierta sorna con la que la agencia se ha tomado su cometido, es un acrónimo conocido por su significado algo más vulgar What The Fuck? (¿Qué coño es esto?)
La CIA ha salido casi indemne de las filtraciones, ya que apenas hay documentos en Wikileaks que aporten detalles sobre las operaciones o los empleados de la agencia. Sin embargo, llevará a cabo un inventario de su información clasificada que se distribuye a través de una docena de redes conectadas entre sus empleados alrededor del mundo.
También evaluará el impacto de las filtraciones, como por ejemplo cuál es el daño que puede sufrido el sistema en el terreno de conseguir informadores ahora que el Gobierno estadounidense ya no puede mantener su confidencialidad, explicó el periódico.
El portavoz de la CIA, George Little, declaró que "el director pidió que la investigación examinase si la última filtración de documentos de Wikileaks puede afectar las relaciones u operaciones extranjeras de la agencia". El estudio está dirigido por el Centro de Contrainteligencia, pero tiene a más de dos docenas de miembros en diferentes departamentos por toda la agencia.
La CIA en principio no podría ser víctima de una filtración como la ocurrida en el Departamento de Estado. Por seguridad, la agencia utiliza un software que manda avisos a los administradores si existe una descarga masiva de datos.
