Hortensia Bussi, viuda del presidente chileno Salvador Allende, murió este jueves en su domicilio de Santiago a los 94 años, informaron fuentes familiares.
Agregaron que "Tencha" como la llamaban sus más cercanos, estaba acompañada por sus hijas Carmen Paz e Isabel Allende, diputada socialista.
Nacida el 22 de julio de 1914, Hortensia Bussi era profesora titulada de Historia y Geografía y tras el golpe militar que le costó la vida a su esposo, el 11 de septiembre de 1973, se exilió en México.
En 1940 se casó con Salvador Allende, con quien tuvo tres hijas: Carmen Paz, Beatriz, ya fallecida, e Isabel.
Durante la dictadura de Augusto Pinochet, la viuda de Salvador Allende se comprometió de forma decidida con las fuerzas políticas que desde el exilio lucharon por la recuperación de la democracia.
Para su 94 cumpleaños, en julio del año pasado, la presidenta de Chile, Michelle Bachelet, le envió una carta de saludos en la que le transmitió su admiración, "por su ejemplo de entereza y de consecuencia", a la vez que alabó "su enorme compromiso, ayer y hoy con nuestra democracia".
Según sus más cercanos, Hortensia Bussi se mantuvo totalmente lúcida hasta los últimos momentos de su vida.
