ATENAS.- El ministro griego del Interior, Nikos Vutsis, afirmó hoy que Grecia no va a poder pagar al Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) los cuatro tramos del préstamo que vencen en junio.
"Los tramos de junio al FMI, desde el 5 hasta el 19 de junio son de 1.600 millones de euros. Este dinero no se pagará, porque no está. Esto se conoce y se debate sobre la base de un cauteloso optimismo de que habrá un acuerdo que permita al país respirar", dijo Vutsis en declaraciones a la televisión privada "Mega".
El ministro reconoció que hay serios desencuentros en algunos temas que, por el momento, no permiten alcanzar un acuerdo, pero recalcó que la existencia de un pacto "dará aliento al país" y será "económicamente viable e inspirador políticamente y abrirá perspectivas".
Las líneas rojas del Gobierno, la oposición al recorte de salarios y pensiones y a la liberalización completa del mercado laboral, así como la reforma del IVA son los temas que generan mayor desacuerdo con las instituciones (Comisión Europea, Banco Central Europeo y FMI).
Sobre el contenido de lo acordado, Vutsis aseguró que el pacto no debe implicar más ajustes, sino pequeños superávit y un paquete de inversión. Respecto al calendario de las negociaciones, dijo que se pueden extender hasta finales de junio o principios de julio.
Los socios de la eurozona acordaron con Grecia el pasado 20 de febrero extender el segundo rescate hasta finales de junio con el fin de consensuar las reformas que el país debe acometer para seguir recibiendo financiación.
El titular de Interior señaló, además, que cualquier acuerdo debe someterse a la aprobación del Parlamento y no descartó -como también lo ha planteado el primer ministro, Alexis Tsipras- la celebración de un referéndum en caso de que se alcance un acuerdo no beneficioso para Grecia.
Según "Mega", Tsipras ha trasladado al secretario del Tesoro estadounidense, Jack Lew, la imposibilidad del Gobierno de hacer frente a los pagos del FMI que vencen en junio. En una conversación telefónica mantenida la noche del viernes, Tsipras pidió a Lew su intervención para reorganizar los pagos hasta mediados de junio.
