El portavoz del Vaticano, el jesuita Federico Lombardi, ha vuelto a hacerse la víctima en relación con los casos de pederastia en el seno de la Iglesia. Habla de una "plaga" ajena a la Iglesia y de la que ellos dicen ser también víctimas.
"La plaga de los abusos sexuales es una de las grandes plagas del mundo actual" y "lo que ocurre dentro de la Iglesia constituye sólo una pequeña parte de lo que ha ocurrido y sigue ocurriendo en el mundo entero", señala. Arguye que "la Iglesia debe ser la primera en liberarse de esta plaga", que "aumenta más fácilmente cuando está escondida".
"La batalla -afirma- debemos hacerla siempre más cercanos, uniendo nuestras fuerzas contra la difusión de la plaga, que hoy usa medios y vías nuevas para difundirse, facilitada por internet y las nuevas formas de comunicación".
Unas cincuenta víctimas de abusos sexuales de sacerdotes de la Iglesia católica procedentes de varias partes del mundo se reunieron ayer en Roma y rechazaron con gritos la presencia de Lombardi, quien se acercó para expresar dicha posición.
En su misiva, Lombardi propone una alianza para combatir la vergüenza y el drama de los abusos a menores. Esta "plaga", asegura, se difunde también por la crisis de la familia, por el turismo y el tráfico sexual que explota la pobreza de la gente en varios continentes, según el portavoz vaticano.
"Por ello, os invito a ver a la Iglesia -manifiesta- siempre más como una aliada posible o, según mi punto de vista, una aliada ya hoy activa para los objetivos más nobles de vuestra batalla".
Lombardi añade que la investigación y la intervención por parte del Vaticano deben ser más rápidas, aunque "la Iglesia ha hecho y hace mucho", por lo que la mayoría de los delitos "pertenecen al pasado".
