María Teresa Fernández de la Vega fue ayer la encargada de clausurar el I Foro de la Alianza de Civilizaciones, que duró dos días y reunió a 350 representantes de 63 países.
Aparte de nacer como una herramienta de diálogo entre culturas y civilizaciones, la vicepresidenta del Gobierno resaltó que la Alianza "es el mayor esfuerzo realizado hasta ahora por la comunidad internacional para materializar el objetivo último de aumentar los niveles de seguridad en el mundo".
Por tan alta consideración de esta iniciativa del presidente Rodríguez Zapatero, De La Vega tuvo una crítica en su intervención para quienes, dijo, intentan "denostar y desprestigiar el trabajo de cuantos nos esforzamos por hacer posible que esa paz y ese entendimiento se conviertan en una realidad".
Precisamente, las críticas más duras contra la Alianza de Civilizaciones, desde que fue anunciada, vino de la mano del Partido Popular. Todavía el martes, su líder, Mariano Rajoy, en un desayuno con periodistas, se burló de la iniciativa del jefe del Ejecutivo al hablar despectivamente de "una reunión en Madrid a la que asisten mandatarios importantes: los presidentes de Finlandia, de Eslovenia, de Malasia, de Argelia y el propio señor Rodríguez Zapatero".
El Foro de la Alianza de Civilizaciones se cerró ayer con la idea de celebrar sus segunda edición en Estambul en 2009 y con doce medidas sobre educación, jóvenes, migración y medios de comunicación.
