EBay anunció el miércoles una previsión de ganancias en la parte inferior de las estimaciones de los analistas, lo que decepcionó a los inversores, que esperaban mejores expectativas para la temporada clave de ventas navideñas.
Las acciones caían un 7 por ciento en las operaciones electrónicas tras el cierre del mercado.
La web global de comercio, que posee además el servicio de pagos online PayPal y la firma de telefonía por Internet Skype, dijo que su beneficio en el tercer trimestre fue de 350 millones de dólares (unos 233,6 millones de euros), ó 0,27 dólares por acción, desde los 492 millones de dólares, ó un 0,38 dólares por papel del año previo.
Sobre una base ajustada, las ganancias por acción fueron de 0,38 dólares.
Analistas esperaban de media sobre esa base ganancias por acción de 0,37 dólares, según Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Los ingresos fueron de 2.200 millones de dólares, frente a los 2.140 millones de dólares que esperaba Wall Street.
Para el cuarto trimestre, eBay pronosticó ganancias ajustadas en el rango de entre 0,38 y 0,40 dólares por acción. Wall Street espera 0,40 dólares por título.
