El ministro de Asuntos Exteriores surcoreano, Yu Myung-hwan, confirmó hoy que Corea del Norte ha entregado su esperado inventario nuclear a China, informó la agencia local Yonhap.
La confirmación del ministro surcoreano se produjo poco después de que el Gobierno de Pekín anunciara que Corea del Norte tenía previsto presentar su declaración nuclear antes de que terminase el día de hoy.
Un alto funcionario surcoreano dijo que la presentación del inventario nuclear a China se produjo a las 18.30 hora coreana (9.30 GMT), según Yonhap.
En rueda de prensa, el ministro surcoreano indicó que Corea del Norte entregó esta tarde en Pekín la declaración nuclear a China.
En respuesta, EEUU iniciará el proceso para retirar a Corea del Norte de la lista de las naciones que patrocinan el terrorismo y dejará de aplicar a Corea del Norte las sanciones comerciales que rigen en el Acta de Comercio con países enemigos.
El ministro surcoreano definió la entrega como un "paso clave" y "un importante punto de partida" para lograr avances reales en la desnuclearización completa de Pyongyang, y manifestó su deseo de que las relaciones entre las dos Coreas se encaminen hacia coexistencia.
Por tanto, Seúl valoró de forma positiva la presentación del inventario, que ofrece la base para iniciar la próxima etapa de la desnuclearización norcoreana.
"Tengo entendido que esta declaración contiene informaciones imprescindibles e importantes, como la lista de las instalaciones nucleares y la cantidad de plutonio extraído", indicó Yu, quien se mostró confiado en que el inventario sea verificado de forma correcta y completa a través de las negociaciones a seis bandas.
El jefe de la diplomacia surcoreana reiteró que Seúl cree que en la declaración tiene que cubrir todo el contenido relacionado con las armas nucleares, algo que al parecer no está incluido en esta primera fase, según ha precisado EEUU.
