El presidente de Renault España, Jean-Pierre Laurent, consideró lógico que Fernando Alonso se haya decantado por fichar por Ferrari pues es la "ambición" de toda la parrilla, pero dejó claro que el asturiano "debe todo" a la marca francesa.
"Fernando Alonso sabe que debe todo a Renault y si no sería piloto de karts. Es normal que tenga ambición por pilotar para Ferrari y que se vaya a la 'Scuderia' porque es el sueño de cada piloto, pero nosotros tenemos que seguir adelante", afirmó en una conferencia en Sevilla titulada La visión Renault sobre la situación del sector de la automoción.

El mandatario cree que el bicampeón del mundo español pasará algunos apuros en su llegada al 'Cavallino Rampante' y se mostró orgulloso con la llegada de Robert Kubica. "Fernando tendrá que apretarse mucho el cinturón con Ferrari que no ha ganado el último Campeonato. Además, nosotros tenemos al segundo mejor piloto", concluyó.
