La canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, exigió hoy que los países vecinos de Zimbabue influyan en los acontecimientos en ese país e intervengan directamente ante su actual régimen.
Los vecinos de Zimbabue y las personalidades más destacadas de África deben tomar una postura clara ante las agresiones que sufren los seguidores de la oposición, dijo Merkel tras recibir en su despacho a la presidenta de Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
"Seguimos con gran preocupación la situación en Zimbabue", dijo la jefa del gobierno germano, quien recordó que el Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas ha condenado "con palabras claras" el desarrollo de los acontecimientos en el país surafricano.
Ahora es el momento de que, sobre todo los países vecinos, "den una señal inequívoca", afirmó la canciller, quien celebró la propuesta de aplazar la segunda vuelta de los comicios presidenciales en Zimbabue.
