España es el segundo país del mundo que mejor acepta socialmente el divorcio, sólo por detrás de Brasil, según una investigación hecha por el departamento de Sociología de la Universidad de Granada (UGR).
Este estudio refleja que casi el 80 por ciento de los ciudadanos españoles creen que es la mejor solución cuando una pareja no es capaz de superar sus problemas conyugales, lo que sitúa a España muy por delante de otros países del Norte de Europa, considerados tradicionalmente más liberales.
La aceptación del divorcio ha aumentado durante la época de los noventa y los jóvenes son el sector de población que se muestra más en desacuerdo con él, probablemente porque estas generaciones han vivido los procesos de ruptura de sus padres, según el profesor Diego Becerril.
Los divorciados y separados son los que están más a favor, mientras que los viudos son los que muestran un mayor rechazo.
En cuanto a la ideología, los más cercanos a posiciones de extrema izquierda son quienes más de acuerdo están con el divorcio como solución a un matrimonio conflictivo, mientras que mientras más hacia la derecha se sitúa el individuo, mayor es su oposición.
De los 35 países analizados, en Japón es donde el divorcio está peor aceptado socialmente, con poco más de un 30 por ciento de encuestados a favor, seguido de Filipinas y Estados Unidos.
En el trabajo también se han analizado los datos de la Encuesta Mundial de Valores, según la cual el divorcio es el comportamiento más justificable de entre una serie de comportamientos como son la eutanasia, el aborto o la prostitución.
