El Pocero se ha convertido en uno de los máximos exponentes de constructor que se ha hecho de oro gracias al boom inmobiliario, que terminó en septiembre de 2007. Ese año, la crisis del ladrillo empezó a pasar factura a todos los empresarios del sector, incluido a él, que ha utilizado su constructora Onde 2000 para tomar dinero prestado, según reflejan las cuentas de la empresa.
No se sabe si por dificultades financieras o por otras circunstancias, pero Francisco Hernando debe 10 millones de euros a su constructora. La empresa asegura en sus cuentas que el empresario, administrador único de Onde 2000, "posee patrimonio suficiente para responder de esta deuda" (sic). Por otro lado, se ha autoconcedido un préstamo de 32 millones de la constructora para el Grupo Francisco Hernando Contreras, del que también es administrador único.
La constructora que quería levantar 13.500 pisos en El Quiñón de Seseña y que de momento sólo ha edificado unos 5.000, parece actuar de bolsa financiera también para la empresa de jets: Jets Personales debe 6,19 millones a Onde 2000. Antes el Pocero tenía tres aviones, pero sólo le queda uno, ya que ha tenido que vender otro recientemente. Los pisos ya no se venden bien. Sin embargo, el yate de superlujo Clarena II sigue a la espera del rodaje.
