El actor Jackie Chan comenzó en el monasterio de Shaolin, situado en la provincia central china de Henan, el rodaje de una nueva película de kung fu, arte marcial creado por los monjes budistas de este templo hace unos 1.500 años, según informó la agencia oficial Xinhua.
Jackie Chan protagonizará junto con Andy Lau, Nicholas Tse y Fan Bingbing "Shaolin" (dirigida por Benny Chan), la historia de unos héroes que tratan de salvar a China entre los años 1920 y 1930, cuando el país estaba dividido por los "señores de la guerra" (caudillos locales).
La película esta producida por China Film Group Corporation, con sede en Hong Kong, y cuenta con una inversión de 200 millones de yuanes (19,49 millones de euros, 29,29 millones de dólares), según informó un portavoz de la compañía.
El abad principal del monasterio de Shaolin, Shi Yongxin, autorizó el rodaje de la película en el templo, con la esperanza de que refleje su riqueza cultural.
El comienzo del rodaje levantó mucha expectación en el templo, que se hizo famoso hace 27 años con la película protagonizada por el actor chino Jet Li, más tarde famoso en Hollywood por filmes como "Arma Letal 4" y "Romeo debe morir".
La película de Jackie Chan es una nueva versión de la película que hace un cuarto de siglo protagonizó Jet Li, formado en ese mismo monasterio.
