La Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) y la Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) han acordado volver a introducir la disputa de partidos de Primera División los lunes a partir del mes que viene.
Si los clubes dan el visto bueno, los encuentros de máxima categoría podrían celebrarse los lunes a partir del 8 de febrero, según informó la Federación en su web (www.rfef.es).
"Estaba claro que este era un asunto necesario para ampliar el abanico de ofertas televisivas, porque la Liga española estaba en desventaja con otros campeonatos como la Bundesliga o la Premier", declaró el vicepresidente de la Liga, Javier Tebas, en el diario AS del miércoles .
"Muchos clubes tienen pendiente firmar un nuevo contrato en 2011 y este acuerdo permitirá que sus contratos valgan mucho más de lo que iban a valer".
El acuerdo entre las dos instituciones también prevé partidos de Segunda División los viernes.
Tebas quitó importancia a quienes recuerdan que ya hubo encuentros de Primera los lunes durante dos temporadas, en los años 90, y que no tuvieron éxito.
"Estoy seguro de que el lunes es un magnífico día para que la gente vea fútbol porque hay mucha gente en sus casas, y lo mismo puedo decir del partido de los viernes", dijo en AS.
La LFP también está estudiando la posibilidad de adelantar el horario de algunos partidos para entrar en el mercado asiático, una idea apoyada por equipos como el Real Madrid, que quieren aumentar su relevancia en aquella región.
