Un soldado británico murió hoy como consecuencia de una explosión registrada en el sur de Afganistán, informó hoy el Ministerio de Defensa del Reino Unido.
El militar, del Primer Batallón de los Guardias Galeses, falleció al estallar un artefacto mientras efectuaba una patrulla rutinaria cerca de Laskar Gah, en la conflictiva provincia de Helmand.
Hasta la fecha, un total de 169 miembros de las Fuerzas Armadas británicas han perdido la vida en el país asiático desde la invasión de la coalición liderada por Estados Unidos en noviembre de 2001.
El Reino Unido tiene desplegados unos 8.300 soldados en territorio afgano, la mayoría concentrados en el sur, como parte de la Fuerza para la Asistencia a la Seguridad de la OTAN en Afganistán (ISAF), según los datos del Ministerio de Defensa británico.
