Los residentes en España a 1 de enero de 2011 eran 47.150.819, con un aumento del 0,3% (129.788) respecto a la misma fecha del año anterior, mientras que el número de extranjeros se mantiene prácticamente igual, con un descenso de los no comunitarios (-1,75%).
Según el avance del padrón municipal, publicado hoy por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), 41.420.152 habitantes tienen nacionalidad española y 5.730.667 son extranjeros, que representan el 12,2% de todos los inscritos.
En cuanto a los españoles empadronados, aumentan un 0,4% (146.855 más), en tanto que los extranjeros bajan un 0,3% (17.076 menos que hace un año).
Por comunidades, cuatro de ellas reducen población: Castilla y León (-3.773), Galicia (-3.137), Asturias (-2.993) y Aragón (-1.963).
Por el contrario, los mayores incrementos, en términos absolutos, se dan en Andalucía (44.515), Cataluña (22.870) y Madrid (22.830).
El siguiente cuadro recoge, por comunidades autónomas, el número de habitantes empadronados a 1 de enero de 2011 y las variaciones absolutas y relativas sobre 2010, así como el porcentaje de extranjeros sobre el total de población.
