Frente al alarmismo, tranquilidad. Pese a que la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) declaró hace dos días la situación de pandemia por la rápida expansión del virus N1H1, la Unión Europea (UE) "no prevé" modificar la gestión que hasta ahora ha hecho de la crisis provocada por la nueva gripe. Lo anunció ayer la portavoz comunitaria de Salud, Nina Papadoulaki.
Tras la decisión de la OMS, la comisaria europea de Salud, Androulla Vassiliou, y la ministra del ramo checa, Dana Juraskova, destacaron el acuerdo de los 27 para "actuar coordinadamente" ante la nueva fase de la enfermedad. Insistieron, además, que Bruselas continuará por ahora con las acciones previstas con anterioridad a la declaración de pandemia.
Papadoulaki, sin embargo, no descartó que se puedan contemplar otras medidas en el futuro en función de la "evolución de la situación", aunque precisó que cualquier decisión al respecto estaría "sometida" a una discusión con los Estados miembros y con los organismos científicos europeos.
En esta misma línea, la ministra de Sanidad y Política Social, Trinidad Jiménez, aseguró ayer que en España "podemos estar tranquilos" ya que se trata de una gripe "con unos síntomas muy leves que se cura más o menos en tres días". La ministra destacó, asimismo, la capacidad de "unos servicios sanitarios que están en perfectas condiciones de reaccionar ante cualquier evolución del virus".
Precisamente ayer, el Consejo de Ministros aprobó un crédito extraordinario y dos suplementos de crédito al Ministerio de Sanidad y Política Social, por un importe total de 1.697.900 euros, para financiar las necesidades derivadas de la situación excepcional generada por la infección de la nueva gripe.
