"Bienvenida, señora ministra". Así, en castellano, fue recibida Carme Chacón en la escuela del Padre Mansour de la aldea de Kleyaa por algunos de sus alumnos. Cerca de las montañas del Líbano, esta localidad sigue siendo ejemplo de la convivencia entre las diferentes religiones sobre todo entre la drusa y la cristiana maronita que se vio resquebrajada con el estallido de la violencia en 2006.
En colaboración con el Instituto Cervantes, el castellano se ha convertido en el tercer idioma internacional, como le contó a la ministra una de las profesoras de los grupos de alumnos de entre 8 y 10 años a los que visitó. Según explicó Chacón, hay más de 4.000 alumnos que aprenden español alrededor de Murhayan.
Fuentes militares reconocieron que la enseñanza de la lengua de Cervantes ha influido notablemente en que la ciudadanía "haya aceptado la presencia" militar en la zona.
Conscientes de la importancia de ganarse la confianza de los vecinos, Defensa y el Instituto Cervantes firmaron ayer tres convenios. Uno de colaboración permanente entre las instituciones, otro para la cesión de fondos bibliográficos y un último para el desplazamiento del personal del Instituto, en Beirut, a las aldeas más montañosas.
