El Ejército colombiano divulgó imágenes inéditas grabadas durante la "Operación Jaque", que permitió, sin disparar un solo tiro, el rescate de la ex candidata presidencial Ingrid Betancourt y otros 14 rehenes de las FARC hace un año.
Las imágenes, recogidas en un programa especial titulado "Soldados sin coraza", emitido simultáneamente por los canales públicos de la televisión colombiana, permiten conocer cómo se concibió, planeó y desarrolló la operación, que Betancourt calificó posteriormente de "perfecta".
El jefe de la misión, cuya identidad no ha sido revelada, destaca en el especial televisivo que los participantes de este operativo militar encubierto nunca se negaron a asumir el riesgo de ser descubiertos por los miembros de Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC).
Todos ellos, experimentados oficiales de la inteligencia colombiana, detallan en las imágenes cómo desempeñaron su tarea, desde la suplantación de la operadora de alias "Mono Jojoy" -jefe militar de las FARC- al oficial que interpretó al periodista, "que no falta" en ninguna operación.
"El sitio que escogimos para desarrollar nuestro engaño tenía que ser acorde con lo que se escucha por los radios del enemigo", explica el oficial encargado de decodificar las claves utilizadas por las guerrillas en sus comunicaciones.
Además, adquieren protagonismo las imágenes del interior del helicóptero en las que los militares encubiertos detienen a los dos guerrilleros que custodiaban a los quince rehenes y anuncian que son miembros del Ejército de Colombia.
En el especial televisivo, la mujer que se hizo pasar como enfermera, siendo miembro de la inteligencia colombiana, destaca que "Ingrid estaba sentada en el primer puesto desde la entrada y al lado del cabo (William Pérez, quien asistió a la ex candidata presidencial)", y precisa que "ella no lo creía y tampoco entendía, pero el cabo sí".
