Los tripulantes del atunero vasco "Alakrana" llegaron la madrugada el viernes a las islas Seychelles, después de 47 días de secuestro por piratas somalíes en aguas del océano Índico.
16 de ellos españoles - que llegaron a las islas en un avión fletado por el Ministerio de Defensa español, y algunos miembros del Gobierno.
El patrón del "Alakrana", Ricardo Blach, acompañado por su hija, tuvo palabras de agradecimiento nada más tocar tierra.
"Cuanto más difícil se estaba poniendo, gracias al Gobierno y gracias a todo el mundo que nos han sacado del infierno este (...) a todas las autoridades que se han portado de maravilla", dijo Blach en declaraciones a los periodistas.
Los 36 tripulantes del "Alakrana", secuestrado el 2 de octubre, fueron puestos en libertad el martes. Según los piratas, la liberación de produjo tras acordarse un rescate de 3,5 millones de dólares (unos 2,3 millones de euros).
El Gobierno no ha querido pronunciarse sobre el hipotético pago y sostiene que ha trabajado dentro de la legalidad, aunque declaró que ha cooperado con el armador de la embarcación.
A raíz de los sucesos en aguas del Índico, el Ejecutivo ha establecido que los barcos puedan llevar seguridad privada a bordo.
"Ahora van a ir con mucha más seguridad, no total, pero yo creo que con un 90% de seguridad sí van a ir, cosa que no teníamos antes", afirmó el patrón.
Se espera que los 16 marineros vascos y gallegos lleguen a España el sábado.
