El cuadro David y Goliat de Tiziano, uno de los mayores exponentes del Renacimiento italiano, ha sufrido daños a causa del incendio que se declaró en la noche de este domingo junto a la Basílica de la Salud de Venecia, en el norte de Italia.
La valiosa tela se encontraba en el techo de una de las sacristías del templo y acabó impregnada de agua durante las tareas de extinción del fuego, que se había originado en el edificio de al lado.
Tras descubrir los daños, las autoridades ordenaron retirar el cuadro del techo para evitar así que su situación empeore todavía más.
La tela es considerada una de las más importantes de la historia del arte y había sido restaurada pocos años atrás.
