El Santos FC ha logrado renovar el contrato de su estrella Neymar hasta 2014, tal y como han anunciado en rueda de prensa el presidente del club brasileño, Luis Álvaro Oliveira Ribeiro, y el propio jugador.
El nuevo contrato que une al codiciado jugador brasileño con su actual club finalizaría justo antes de comenzar el Mundial de Brasil.
Ribeiro ha asegurado: 'Neymar continúa con nosotros hasta el 2014 con contrato firmado' mientras que el jugador afirmaba que 'estoy muy feliz, fue una decisión que tomé con mi familia'.
Por supuesto, el Santos ha subido el sueldo del jugador y ha revisado las demás cláusulas del contrato para blindarle y vetar que algún club europeo logre su fichaje. Durante el pasado verano algunos grandes de Europa como Real Madrid, Barcelona o Chelsea pujaron por hacerse con los servicios de Neymar, pero éste decidió quedarse en el Santos para disputar el Mundialito de clubes en diciembre.
Ribeiro ha dejado claro a los equipos europeos que 'el Santos quiere mostrar que las cosas pueden ser diferentes. Ya no aceptamos la idea de un país subdesarrollado, siempre a merced del poder económico'. Y ha añadido que 'Neymar no sólo se va a consolidar como un ídolo, sino que a partir de ahora seremos testigos del nacimiento de un mito'.
