Alain Bernard ha batido, con un tiempo de 46.94, el récord mundial de los 100 metros libre durante las semifinales de los Campeonatos de Francia de natación, que se están disputando en Montpellier.
El francés, primer nadador que baja de la mítica barrera de los 47 segundos, mejoró la anterior plusmarca universal que poseía el australiano Eamon Sullivan con 47.05, tiempo conseguido el 13 de agosto de 2008 en Pekín.
Bernard recupera así el récord mundial que le arrebató el 'aussie' en la capital china en las semifinales de los Juegos Olímpicos. En la final salió airoso el francés y se colgó el oro.
