La aparición en el mar, al sur del Puerto de Tarragona, de una mancha presumiblemente de petróleo ha provocado la activación a primera hora de esta tarde de la fase de alerta del Plan Especial de Emergencias por Contaminación Accidental de Aguas Marinas (Camcat).
Protección Civil de la Generalitat ha informado, en un comunicado, que Salvamento Marítimo ha comunicado el hallazgo de la mancha, que tiene unas dimensiones aproximadas de 800 X 800 metros, a unos cinco metros mar adentro.
El Centro de Coordinación Operativa de Cataluña, Cecat, ha activado la fase de alerta del plan especial Camcat a las 15.55 horas.
Salvamento Marítimo ha desplazado hasta la zona a un helicóptero, una avioneta, dos remolcadores y una barca para determinar la naturaleza de la mancha, que presumiblemente es petróleo, y su origen, así como para planificar las actuaciones que deben llevarse a cabo para eliminarla.
La presencia de la mancha no afecta al baño en las playas de la costa de Tarragona, según las mismas fuentes.
