El vicepresidente de Venezuela y ministro de Defensa, Ramón Carrizalez, presentó su renuncia a ambos cargos, confirmó el lunes a Reuters una fuente del Gobierno, después de que varios medios locales informaran que habría salido del Gobierno por motivos personales.
También su esposa y ministra del Ambiente, Yuvirí Ortega, dimitió.
Carrizalez, militar retirado considerado uno de los hombres fuertes del Gobierno del presidente Hugo Chávez, había ocupado anteriormente la cartera de Vivienda y asumió el cargo de vicepresidente cuando el mandatario remodeló su gabinete en 2008 tras su primera derrota electoral.
"A través de un comunicado de prensa, Carrizález aclaró que su dimisión no responde a ninguna discrepancia con el Ejecutivo y que cualquier otra versión sobre el caso es falsa y tendenciosa", dijo el canal estatal Telesur en su página web.
Una fuente del Gobierno confirmó la renuncia de los dos funcionarios.
