La Duma o Cámara de Diputados de Rusia aprobó hoy en tercera y última lectura varias enmiendas a la Constitución propuestas por el presidente ruso, Dmitri Medvédev, y que incluyen la ampliación del periodo presidencial de cuatro a seis años.
392 diputados votaron a favor de esa modificación, así como de la que extiende de cuatro a cinco años la duración de la legislatura, mientras en contra votaron 57 diputados, todos ellos del opositor Partido Comunista, informaron las agencias rusas.
En votación aparte, los legisladores aprobaron, esta vez por unanimidad, el proyecto de modificación constitucional que obliga al Gobierno a rendir cuenta al Parlamento.
Según el procedimiento que regula la introducción de enmiendas a la Constitución, los proyectos de ley deben ser aprobados en tres lecturas por mayoría cualificada de al menos dos tercios de los diputados.
