Las exportaciones e importaciones de la zona del euro cayeron en los cuatro primeros meses del año el 23 por ciento en relación al mismo periodo del año anterior, una consecuencia clara de la fuerte contracción que sufre el comercio mundial.
Según los datos facilitados hoy por Eurostat, la oficina estadística comunitaria, de enero a abril los países de la moneda única vendieron productos por 405.200 millones de euros, frente a los 524.300 millones de un año antes.
Las importaciones, por su parte, pasaron de 533.800 a 413.300 millones.
Como resultado, el déficit comercial de los dieciséis países de la Unión Económica y Monetaria se elevó a 8.100 millones de euros, el 14,7% menos que en los cuatro primeros meses de 2008.
