El delantero brasileño Luis Fabiano, autor de dos de los goles del triunfo de la selección de su país ante la de los Estados Unidos (3-2), en la final de la Copa de las Confederaciones de Sudáfrica 2009, se ha proclamado con cinco tantos máximo goleador del torneo.
Luis Fabiano, que milita en el Sevilla, anotó sus dos goles de esta noche en los minutos 46 y 74, lo que permitió a Brasil igualar la desventaja de 0-2 con la que había llegado al descanso.
El sevillista sucede como "Bota de Oro" del torneo a su compatriota Adriano, que fue el máximo goleador de la edición disputada en Alemania 2005, asimismo con 5 tantos.
El defensa brasileño Lucio no pudo estrenar mejor su casillero de goles, al anotar el del definitivo 3-1, que daba la Copa a su selección.
La segunda posición de goleadores ve un triple empate a tres tantos: los españoles Fernando Torres y David Villa, quienes no anotaron ante Sudáfrica, y el estadounidense Clint Desmpey, autor del primer gol en el Estados Unidos-Brasil.
Han inaugurado también hoy su casillero de goles, los españoles Dani Güiza, autor de dos tantos, y Xabi Alonso, artífices del triunfo de España sobre Sudáfrica (3-2), en el partido por el tercer y cuarto puesto, y el sudafricano Katlego Mphela, que anotó los de su combinado nacional.
