La pareja española formada por Tommy Robredo y Marcel Granollers se ha clasificado para las semifinales de dobles masculinos del Abierto de Estados Unidos, tras superar al australiano Paul Hanley y el sueco Simon Aspelin por 6-4 y 7-6(7).
Con este triunfo la pareja española logra su mejor resultado de este año en un Grand Slam, ya que su mejor registro lo habían logrado con los cuartos de final en Wimbledon.
Por un puesto en la final, la pareja española se medirá a los hermanos Bob y Mike Bryant, dos veces campeones del Abierto de Estados Unidos, y primeros cabezas de serie del torneo.
