Las autoridades rusas aseguran haber encontrado el 'Arctic Sea', el barco mercante desaparecido en el Atlántico del que no se tenían noticias desde el pasado 28 de julio.
El barco ha sido hallado cerca de las islas de Cabo Verde y la tripulación ha sido trasladada a un barco ruso, según ha dicho el ministro de Defensa ruso, Anatoly Serdyukov.
El carguero, que ha estado desaparecido más de dos semanas y por el que se ha exigido el pago de un rescate en Finlandia, ha suscitado una movilización internacional por parte de la OTAN y Rusia digna de un caso de espionaje.
"Hoy a la una de la tarde hora de Moscú, el barco fue encontrado a 300 millas de las islas de Cabo Verde", dijo Serdyukov a Medvedev durante una visita presidencial a la ciudad rusa de Astraján, en el sur del país.
"La tripulación ha sido trasladada a nuestro barco antisubmarino, el Ladny, donde están siendo interrogados para aclarar las circunstncias de la desaparición", indicó.
"Todos los tripulantes están vivos y bien".
El Kremlin ordenó que barcos de guerra rusos se unieran a la búsqueda del carguero de 4.000 toneladas y 98 metros de eslora, que desapareció en aguas europeas.
El barco de bandera maltesa, con una carga de madera valorada en 1,3 millones de dólares, tenía que haber atracado en el puerto argelino de Bejaia el 4 de agosto.
