Siete ex policías serbobosnios fueron condenados hoy por el Tribunal de Bosnia-Herzegovina en Sarajevo a un total de 284 años de cárcel, en el primer juicio celebrado ante esta corte por genocidio contra los musulmanes de Srebrenica.
Tres de los condenados recibieron una pena de 42 años de prisión, tres de 40 y otro de 38 años, mientras que cuatro personas fueron absueltas de los cargos.
Los procesados fueron acusados de la ejecución de más de 1.000 musulmanes bosnios en el almacén de una cooperativa agrícola en la localidad de Kravica, próxima a Srebrenica, el 13 de julio de 1995.
El proceso judicial contra esas once personas comenzó en 2006, tras su arresto por la Policía serbobosnia un año antes en las localidades de Zvornik, Vlasenica y Bratunac, al este del país, como acusados de haber participado en la masacre de Srebrenica.
Unos 8.000 musulmanes varones fueron asesinados en julio de 1995, después de que el Ejército serbobosnio conquistara el enclave oriental de Srebrenica, entonces zona protegida por la ONU.
Uno de los principales acusados de genocidio en Srebrenica, el ex líder político de los serbios de Bosnia Radovan Karadzic, fue arrestado el pasado día 21 en las proximidades de Belgrado.
