Conocido que las dos primeras rondas de un 'Grande' no deciden quién será el campeón, en todo caso sólo eliminan candidatos, el gran favorito para ganar el Masters de 2009, el estadounidense Tiger Woods, se prepara para una persecución de fin de semana sobre Chad Campbell y Kenny Perry, los líderes en el ecuador del torneo.
Tiger figura a siete golpes de ese tándem de compatriotas que provisionalmente lideran el Masters. La jornada del corte, la segunda, sigue su curso.
Incluso, el argentino Ángel Cabrera, a un golpe de la cabeza caminando por el hoyo 16, podría alcanzar al final de la tarde a Campbell y Perry (-9).
El mejor golfista del planeta firmó hoy el par del campo (72 golpes), que sumados a sus primeros 70 le obligan a atacar desde mañana, sábado, si desea enfundarse su cuarta Chaqueta Verde.
Los españoles Sergio García y Miguel Ángel Jiménez aún pelean por el campo, aunque ambos bajo par y casi salvados para el fin de semana.
Resulta notable la recuperación de García, que presenta dos bajo par atravesando el "Amen Córner", tras una primera ronda que invitó al pesimismo (73).
Por el contrario, José María Olazábal (hoy 75) y Álvaro Quirós es muy probable que no aguanten para el fin de semana. El último, desde luego, ya que está haciendo las maletas tras firmar 75 golpes y +9 en el global.
