¿Puede un empresario ganar dinero con su afición al monopatín y conseguir el apoyo de alguna de las principales marcas de EEUU? El caso del español Francesc Corbera parece demostrar que sí. Este emprendedor de 30 años es un apasionado del skateboard.
Visto por muchos como un entretenimiento de jovenzuelos, este deporte se ha convertido en uno de los más populares en EEUU, donde la industria que se mueve alrededor del monopatín genera casi 5.000 millones de euros al año.
Corbera, consciente de este hecho, decidió crear hace dos meses –su estreno oficial fue en abril– una página web sobre este mundo. Para competir con las ya existentes, apostó por un canal de televisión por Internet. “Los europeos siempre hacemos las cosas después de que ya han salido en EEUU. Mi ambición era que, por una vez, nos adelantáramos”, explica.
Su canal, Skate116.tv, ha tenido un éxito inmediato al otro lado del Atlántico. La acogida le ha hecho conseguir tres contratos publicitarios de otras tantas firmas. Y de eso vive. Un tercio de los contenidos de su webTV son propios, aunque quiere ir aumentando el porcentaje.
Pero Corbera no quiere pararse en la web. La segunda fase de su plan es conseguir que alguna televisión se interese por el skate.
