El Comité Ejecutivo de IFEMA ha nombrado hoy a Carlos Urroz nuevo director de la Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo ARCOmadrid, en sustitución de Lourdes Fernández, quien dimitió el pasado día 3 por "diferencias" sobre el desarrollo del proyecto de la feria.
IFEMA ha informado en un breve comunicado que en el nombramiento de Carlos Urroz, crítico y experto en arte, se ha valorado su amplia experiencia en el sector del arte contemporáneo, así como su trayectoria en esta feria, de la que fue director adjunto de 1994 a 1998.
Urroz, asesor de Artes Plásticas de la Consejería de Cultura de la Comunidad de Madrid, es "persona reconocida profesionalmente en el ámbito galerístico internacional", destaca IFEMA, "gracias a su trabajo no sólo en la galería Helga de Alvear, sino por su labor como gestor cultural independiente".
El nombramiento de Carlos Urroz se ha producido pocos días después de que los galeristas de ARCO plantearan a IFEMA un documento reivindicativo que consideran "la última opción para salvar una feria que ahora está en estado crítico".
