Un jurado de la Corte Superior del condado de Los Ángeles ha declarado culpable a la exrepresentante de Leonard Cohen, Kelley Lynch, por acosar al famoso cantante y compositor por teléfono y correo electrónico, según publica el diario Los Angeles Times.
Lynch, de 55 años, se había declarado no culpable en el juicio que comenzó hace una semana y en el que se enfrentaba a cinco cargos por violar órdenes de alejamiento y dos por contactar repetidas veces a Cohen con la intención de molestarle o acosarle. Ahora se encuentra bajo una fianza de 25.000 dólares (19.000 euros) en un centro de detención en Lynwood, a la espera de conocer la sentencia del juez prevista para la próxima semana.
El músico canadiense, de 77 años, tuvo a Lynch a su servicio durante 17 años hasta que la despidió en 2004. En 2005 la denunció acusándola de haberle robado 5 millones de dólares (3,8 millones de euros) de sus cuentas personales e inversiones, un caso que terminó con la condena contra Lynch, que fue sentenciada a indemnizar al artista con 9,5 millones de dólares.
Según el testimonio de Cohen y las evidencias presentadas en el juicio, cuando terminó el vínculo profesional entre ambos, Lynch comenzó a llamarle y enviarle correos electrónicos en los que le decía que alguien tenía que "acabar con él y dispararle". Cohen declaro que Lynch envió sus misivas a mucha gente y en ellas le calificaba de "drogadicto y muchas otras cosas". El autor de Sisters of Mercy y Lynch mantuvieron alguna relación íntima durante los años en los que ésta fue su representante.
