El ministro de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperación, José Manuel García-Margallo, ha alertado hoy de que una Catalunya independiente "vagaría por el espacio" al no tener reconocimiento internacional y quedaría "excluida" de la UE "por los siglos de los siglos".
Así se ha expresado en un desayuno informativo celebrado en el hotel Ritz que tenía como invitado al ministro georgiano de Economía y Desarrollo Sostenible, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, a quien García-Margallo ha presentado.
El jefe de la diplomacia española ha pedido a los independentistas que extraigan las "lecciones" de la secesión unilateral de los territorios georgianos de Abjasia y Osetia del Sur, a quienes solo reconocen Rusia, Venezuela, Nicaragua y "tres micropaíses del Pacífico".
Estos dos territorios, ha añadido, están en una especie de "limbo jurídico" que les impediría, si tuvieran un problema de deuda pública, tener acceso al Fondo Monetario Internacional y a otras organizaciones internacionales. García-Margallo ha reconocido que la posibilidad de una declaración unilateral de independencia por parte de Catalunya "preocupa mucho" al Gobierno, pero ha destacado que de hacerse realidad sería "especialmente grave" para Catalunya.
