El incendio que desde el pasado domingo afecta a un área boscosa de la zona de Benirràs, en el municipio ibicenco de Sant Joan, ha quemado ya unas 400 hectáreas, según una estimación provisional del Govern balear, que ha pedido más medios de extinción al Ministerio de Medio Ambiente.
El fuego, el de mayor alcance de los últimos años en Baleares, se ha reavivado durante la noche y se ha extendido en dirección norte hacia la zona de Punta Xarraca.
Fuentes del Instituto Balear de la Naturaleza (Ibanat) han indicado a EFE que a mediodía se sumarán a los trabajos de extinción dos helicópteros y dieciocho especialistas de la Brigada de Incendios Forestales del Ministerio de Medio Ambiente, con lo que serán dieciocho los medios aéreos que participan en el operativo.
