La localidad alemana de Verden (noroeste de Alemania) erigió hoy el primer monumento en memoria del músico británico John Lennon, que rodó en la localidad algunas de las escenas de la película "Cómo gané la guerra" de Richard Lester (1967).
La escultura, diseñada por Uwe Blaschke, se compone de tres columnas de hormigón de distintas alturas, con distintas placas de bronce, y ha tenido un coste de unos 2.700 euros, recabados principalmente a través de donaciones de empresas y particulares.
Las inscripciones del monumento recuerdan el paso del músico por la localidad, en septiembre de 1966, enumeran el nombre de los donantes y recrean en relieve el rostro de Lennon, asesinado en Nueva York en 1980.
"Con este memorial queríamos recordar a Lennon y participar de su esperanza por un mundo mejor", explicó el alcalde de la localidad, Lutz Brockmann ante las cerca de cien personas que se reunieron para la inauguración del monolito.
