La presidenta de Microsoft Ibérica, María Garaña, considera trascendental el plan Escuela 2.0 para el futuro de España y cree necesario que no se quede sólo en la entrega de ordenadores a los alumnos, sino que suponga la transformación real de la educación mediante el uso de las nuevas tecnologías. 'Tiene que ser el primer paso de una nueva forma de enseñar'.
Garaña dijo que es muy importante que los niños puedan utilizar el ordenador en el colegio pero también en su casa, por lo que la empresa no pondría ningún problema a que lleven dos sistemas operativos (Dual-Boot), uno de Microsoft y otro de código abierto.
María Garaña confirmó el anuncio de Bill Gates de que va a colaborar con el Gobierno en este proyecto y dijo que el precio que va a ofrecer Microsoft por su sistema operativo y el Office que llevarán los ordenadores 'va a ser espectacular, menor que una comida en un autoservicio'.
No concretó si los ordenadores que se entregarán a los niños en septiembre podrán llevar el nuevo sistema operativo Windows 7 que saldrá al mercado de consumo el 22 de octubre. 'Lo estamos estudiando', dijo.
En la actualidad Microsoft negocia con el Ministerio de Educación un acuerdo nacional para suministrar el sistema operativo. El precio que se acuerde será el que se aplicará como referencia para todos los fabricantes de ordenadores que quieran participar en los concursos públicos que convocarán las Comunidades Autónomas.
