Con cerca del 47 por ciento de los votos escrutados, el presidente de Irán, el ultraconservador Mahmud Ahmadineyad, ha conseguido una sorprendente victoria en las elecciones con un 67,7 por ciento de las papeletas emitidas.
Según los últimos datos facilitados por el ministerio de Interior, Mahdineyad ha conseguido 10.230.478 de los más de quince millones escrutados.
En segundo lugar marcha el candidato independiente por reformista, Mir Husein Musavi, con 4.628.912, cifra que representa el 34 por ciento de los votos.
A mucha distancia se encuentran el conservador Mohsen Rezeí, con 259.456 votos (1,72 por ciento del sufragio), y el clérigo reformista, Mehdi Karrubí, con 132.935 y el 0,85 por ciento.
Los resultados finales deben ser validados por el poderoso Consejo de Guardianes, antes de ser oficiales.
De confirmarse estas cifras, Ahmadineyad habrá logrado una aplastante victoria que evitaría una segunda vuelta.
