Un nuevo estudio británicoreveló que los adictos al chocolate que quieren controlar susantojos podrían lograrlo con sólo salir a caminar 15 minutos apaso enérgico.
"Hacer recreos activos durante el día serviría para reducirel consumo de calorías placenteras, pero innecesarias", dijo aReuters Health el profesor Adrian Taylor, de la Escuela deCiencias del Deporte y de la Salud de la University of Exeter.
El chocolate es el antojo más frecuente e intenso queproduce un alimento y su deseo súbito suele aparecer enmomentos de aburrimiento, estrés o cuando se siente lanecesidad de mejorar el ánimo o aumentar el estado de alerta,explicó en la revista Appetite el equipo dirigido por Taylor.
Estudios previos habían demostrado que períodos breves deejercicio, como salir a caminar enérgicamente, también puedenaumentar el estado de alerta y de ánimo, además de reducir losantojos de golosinas.
Esto hizo que el equipo investigara cómo las caminatascortas y enérgicas, comparadas con el sedentarismo,modificarían esos deseos.
El equipo reunió a 20 mujeres y cinco hombres de 25 añosque comían por lo menos dos barras de chocolate por día ytenían antojos intensos luego de tres días de abstinencia.
Los participantes tampoco consumieron productos con cafeínani hicieron ejercicio alguno durante las dos horas previas alas dos pruebas propuestas: 15 minutos de caminata enérgica o15 minutos de descanso en un sillón.
Después de cada prueba, los participantes realizaron unatarea mentalmente excitante y tuvieron en sus manos, sincomerla, una barra de chocolate.
Los resultados demuestran que el sedentarismo "no redujo eldeseo de comer chocolate, mientras que la caminata de 15minutos controló el antojo", dijo Taylor.
El ejercicio disminuyó también la escalada del antojo decomer chocolate al estar disponible.
Los nuevos estudios, opinó Taylor, deberían evaluar si elaumento de la actividad física cotidiana, en especial en eltrabajo, regula las urgencias subconscientes, en especial enlas mujeres, en las que el deseo de comer chocolate suele sermayor que en los hombres.
