El relevo de la antorcha para los Juegos de Invierno de Vancouver 2010 comenzó el jueves su andadura, con los rayos del sol encendiendo la llama durante el breve período en que se despejaron las nubes en el antiguo estadio Olímpico.
Fue la primera vez de las últimas cuatro ceremonias del encendido de la antorcha para los juegos de invierno que no tuvo que utilizarse la llama de reserva del ensayo general del día anterior.
La ceremonia dio inicio a un relevo de la antorcha de ocho días por toda Grecia, incluidas las estaciones de esquí del país, antes de su entrega a los organizadores de los Juegos en el estadio Panateniano en Atenas, lugar de los primeros Juegos Olímpicos modernos en 1896.
El 30 de octubre, la llama llegará a Canadá para el mayor relevo nacional jamás realizado, cubriendo 45.000 kilómetros para finalizar en Vancouver el 12 de febrero, el día de la ceremonia de inauguración de los Juegos.
