Microsoft divulgó el jueves un parche de seguridad para proteger a los usuarios de su navegador Internet Explorer de ataques similares a los dirigidos contra las operaciones de Google en China la semana pasada.
La mayor compañía de software del mundo, que explicó que los 'hackers' que actuaron contra Google y al menos otras 20 compañías en China aprovecharon una vulnerabilidad en su navegador, dijo que su nuevo parche es "decisivo" y la gente debería adoptarlo lo antes posible.
Otros piratas informáticos han empezado a explotar el fallo, según investigadores de Symantec, el mayor fabricante de programas de seguridad del mundo.
Symantec ha encontrado virus que aprovechan la vulnerabilidad del navegador de Microsoft en unas 100 páginas web, dijo el jueves el responsable de seguridad John Harrison.
Son peligrosos porque pueden infectar el ordenador de cualquier usuario que visita esas páginas. A diferencia de virus menos poderosos, no es necesario que la gente se descargue un programa en sus ordenadores para que resulten infectados, dijo Harrison.
Los ordenadores están seguros si aplican el parche de seguridad, que resuelve ocho vulnerabilidades en Internet Explorer, dijo Microsoft. La más grave podría permitir a los 'hackers' hacerse con el control de un ordenador de forma remota a través de páginas web que la gente visita mientras utiliza el navegador.
La mayoría de los clientes de Internet Explorer, que tienen actualizaciones automáticas habilitadas en sus sistemas, no necesitarán adoptar ninguna medida sobre el parche de seguridad, dijo Microsoft. Para la actualización manual, dirigió a los usuarios a su página web (http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5).
