El alero estadounidense Pete Mickeal, ex jugador del TAU Cerámica, se ha convertido en el primer fichaje del Regal FC Barcelona para la próxima temporada, según ha anunciado hoy el club catalán.
Mickeal, de 31 años, ha firmado un contrato para las dos próximas campañas, aunque el club barcelonista tiene la potestad de finiquitarlo al término del primer ejercicio. Su fichaje ayudará a reforzar la posición de alero alto en el equipo de Xavi Pascual, después de la grave lesión sufrida por Lubos Barton.
El alero llegó a la Liga ACB en 2005. Firmó por el Leche Río Breogán procedente del Makedonikos griego y se convirtió en el jugador revelación de la ACB, con 19 puntos por partido y una valoración de 21.3, la más alta de la temporada.
En las dos últimas temporadas, Mickeal ha jugado en las filas del TAU vitoriano, equipo con el que ganó una Liga ACB (2007-08) y fue elegido jugador más determinante de aquella final.
Esta temporada, Mickeal ha sido uno de los jugadores más destacados del equipo de Dusko Ivanovic y ha promediado 12 puntos, 5 rebotes, 24 minutos y una valoración de 14 en los 44 partidos de Liga ACB disputados.
