DUBLÍN.- El Gobierno de Irlanda podría necesitar más tiempo para preparar un recurso de apelación, propuesto por el ministro de Economía irlandés, contra la multa que Bruselas ha impuesto a Apple por evadir impuestos y tributar entre 2003 y 2014 al 0,005% en el país, según ha explicado otro ministro este miércoles.
El ministro de Economía, Michael Noonan, aseguró este martes estar "profundamente en desacuerdo" con la multa de Bruselas, por lo que buscará que el Consejo de Ministros irlandés apruebe la decisión de apelar la misma.
El Gobierno en minoría liderado por el partido conservador Fine Gael, depende del apoyo del partido formado por políticos independientes, Alianza Independiente. Desde este partido afirmaron este martes que necesitan estudiar el caso y consultar al ministro Noonan, funcionarios fiscales y expertos independientes para poder tomar una decisión al respecto.
Si Alianza Independiente se niega a respaldar la apelación y se retira del gobierno, el Fine Gael perdería su apoyo en el Parlamento irlandés y el Gobierno podría colapsar. "Vamos a ser capaces de tomar una decisión, pero es conveniente que demos a esto el tiempo necesario", ha asegurado el ministro de Gasto Público, Paschal Donohoe.
El partido de izquierdas, Sinn Fein, el tercero más votado del país, ha criticado la decisión del Gobierno y ha asegurado que éste debe aceptar la multa de la Comisión Europea a Apple.
"Es importante que los contribuyentes irlandeses están representados en la reunión del gabinete. Alianza Independiente tiene la oportunidad de hacer eso. Ellos deben oponerse a cualquier recurso e insistir en que la correcta multa impositiva es pagada por Apple", ha dicho David Cullinane del Sinn Fein.
