La temporada ha terminado. Marta estaba ayer feliz, tranquila, ocupando con elegancia el lugar que acaba de ganarse entre las más grandes del deporte femenino español. 'Ahora sólo quiero descansar', confesó
¿Qué significa descansar para una atleta que lleva un año espartano, de dedicación plena al entrenamiento? '¡Pues lo que más me apetece es jugar al fútbol!', responde la campeona mundial de los 3.000 metros obstáculos, con una gran sonrisa.
La plusmarquista nacional es muy aficionada al fútbol. Sólo lo puede practicar fuera de temporada, generalmente en otoño, para no lesionarse. Pero le apasiona. 'Suelo jugar en Venta de Baños (Palencia). Allí hay una escuela de fútbol y yo juego siempre con el equipo de los entrenadores. Jugamos partidos contra los cadetes'.
Aunque madridista de toda la vida, Marta admira el juego desplegado por el Barça esta temporada. Raúl y Puyol son sus jugadores favoritos 'por su actitud en el campo'. ¿En qué posición juega la palentina? '¡Yo juego de chupona!', confiesa divertida.
Marta profundizó ayer en las razones de sus éxitos. 'Soy genéticamente trabajadora, disciplinada, perfeccionista y obstinada'. Y mencionó la fortuna. 'Creo que he tenido algo de suerte, no, mejor dicho, mucha suerte'.
¿Y el futuro? 'Quiero competir en los Juegos de Londres, pero sólo iré si estoy bien. Y aún no hemos decidido en qué prueba'. La palentina baraja incluso la posibilidad de saltar al maratón. Para seguir reinventándose.
